Department of Zoology
INTRODUCTION:-
In 2008 the Science faculty was started in the College with aim to develop scientific attitude in rural students and society. The Zoology Department is also established at the same time with B.Sc. 1st batch. Department of Zoology of Kohinoor College is marching towards progression under the direction of Hon’ble Dr.Mazhar Khan, the Secretary of the Institute. Dr. T.D. Pathan joined department since 2010. Presently, Department has two regular fulltime teaching staff along with three CHB staff. In nonteaching staff there is a laboratory Assistant and a lab Attendant. Dr. T.D. Pathan work as Head of the Department. At present department has Under Graduate and Post Graduate course.

To provide diverse subject knowledge to the deprived students of rural area through curricular and extracurricular activities, so that they develop with qualities this will be helpful for their bright career
Mission:-
To train the students in a wide range of subject based skills that provide the learning base for future careers in discipline such as Health Sciences, agriculture, Environmental management, teaching, Research and Management.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT :-
To achieve academic excellence in basic and applied aspects of Animal sciences.
To impart basic and advanced education to students through teaching, learning, research and evaluation.
To motivate the students to undertake research in basic and applied thrust areas of animal sciences.
To inculcate scientific awareness towards protecting diversity and Eco-environmental management of living resources for sustainable development.
SCOPE AND IMPORTANCE OF THE SUBJECT :-
Zoology is the vast subject with various specializations like Protozoology, Physiology, Endocrinology, Parasitology, Fishery Science, Genetics, Biotechnology, Aquaculture, Entomology, Molecular Biology, Cytology, etc.
After completion of graduation students of this subject have many opportunities to make career in the above specializations. The students can appear for competitive examination conducted by Indian Forest Services in which Zoology is the compulsory subject at graduation level. They can appear other examinations conducted by UPSC, MPSC etc.
Also beside this our students can generate self employment through agro based practices i.e. animal culture such as sericulture and apiculture. Students can obtain the positions as Environmentalist, Taxonomists, Forester and Laboratory Technician and also in teaching field etc. Students can make their career in Biotechnology, Biochemist and Fishery science.
- To establish Research centre for Zoology students.
- To develop PG lab with necessary research based Equipments.
- To enrich Department with more books, and e- learning resources like audio visual material regarding to Syllabus.
- To propose Major Research Project
- Development of separate museum hall with necessary models and animals specimens.
- To organize national seminar/conference
